magic box

i haven't turned this on, probably for more than 1 year, so i realized it's probably time to let it go.
this tv has been with me since 2004. i had a bigger tv before and hated it, so exchanged it with this smaller one that my friend had.

after i moved to marfa, it became "movie player" (, since we don't get any channels without satellite/cable tv).
my dvd/vcr player broke last year (although it was still functioning as a video tape player), and this tv stopped being a tv.
it has been a black box.

sorry, my magic box, you are not under a charm anymore.

it's at the marfa thrift now.

samurai spirit

my father gave me this book one day, maybe 2 or 3 years ago.
it was totally not expected, because:
1.) it's about "bushi-do (samurai spirit)."
2.) this book contains all the script both in japanese and english.
3.) we never talked about inazo nitobe (who wrote this book) ever.

i don't know what he expected me to absorb from this book, but i actually never read more than 1 paragraph.
i didn't learn the core soul of japanese tradition.
...well, maybe it's the color of the book. i don't do well with red (fire) object (like, red clothing items never look good on me), since i'm the year of dragon (a god/spirit of water).

i know somebody who would totally love this book: diego. i hope he would learn some more japanese from this book...

made in japan.

i got this from my friend's garage sale almost 4 years ago. she was moving out from a huge house and having a gigantic garage sale. she told me that somebody gave this to her as a wedding gift years and years ago... and it's made in japan! she never used it, and after i bought it from her, i never used it either.
kitchen utencils are there to be used. they should be a part of this beautiful activity of cooking and eating; cooking is such an activitiy of sharing so many things with people. if the kitchen utencil doesn't get used, it should be let go to meet the right kitchen, the right table.

this is going to my friends who just moved to marfa, who love japan: mike and emily. i hope this will be used somehow in their kitchen...

neckless

my friend, who was moving to london for graduate program, gave this to me in summer, 2006. it just doesn't look good on me, so i never put it on.

the friend became remote, physically and emotionally, and i don't have any contact with her anymore. she was suffering from the loneliness that i could relate, and that's probably the reason why we became good friends. i hope she is well.

i'm thinking it would look good on adrina... i wonder if she wants this.

the first thing to go.

this is a fancy coffee maker that i got for free.
it came to my apt when the coffee shop in marfa closed (yes, we were all so sad). now we have another coffee shop in town and i don't even make coffee with this.

i'm thinking to bring this to marfa thrift tomorrow.

what i thought on july 2nd, 2009.

today, i decided to get rid of "things."

just wanted to slim down my life. yes, i was "too fat" for last some years.
toss it, dump it, let it go, give it away... doesn't it sound refreshing?
after deciding to have less things, i thought, "hmmmm.... it might become something if i keep an archive of things i'm giving up."

so, that's what this is going to be.
friends, give me any silly comments on anything. i would love it & appreciate it. let me know if there is anything you might want (well, i doubt it, since it's going to be all silly things).
